New Producers’ curate events across Scotland this Autumn

This Autumn, Film Hub Scotland New Producers’ have programmed a host of exciting and accessible film events taking place across the country.
The New Producers’ programme provides four individuals paid work placements to create and produce film screening activity for an established film organisation in Scotland. They are supported with training and work closely with their organisation to learn all aspects of programming, marketing and delivering film screenings.
This year, four emerging producers are working with Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA), Scottish Queer International Film Festival, Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival and Take One Action.
They have produced events across a range of venues and for diverse audiences. We’re delighted to share the events curated by our 2024 New Producers:

Wednesday 9 October | Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow
Dive into ★,｡･::･ﾟ☆ “The Real Internet Is Inside You” ･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧, a collection of six short films exploring nearly 20 years of our evolving relationship with the internet. Blurring the lines between reality and fiction, this event delves into the complex interplay of digital identity and self-expression, responding to the overwhelming, contradictory messages that fuel confusion, anxiety, and disconnection in the digital age. With a focus on sensory overload and emotional vulnerability, the program offers a fresh perspective on contemporary life.
The event features an interactive workshop led by internet studies expert Kirsty Dunlop and Reema Vadoliya, founder of People of Data.
This event takes place as part of Scottish Queer Film Festival 2024 (8 – 12 October).
Remember 2 Replenish

Remember 2 Replenish is an immersive screening event that delves into the lived experiences of Black women across the African diaspora, offering a cinematic exploration of self-care and resilience. Through a carefully curated selection of films, it will highlight the often-overlooked realities of burnout, the pressure of societal expectations, and the collective journey towards healing and empowerment. The programme includes:

This event is part of Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2024 (10 – 27 October).
Celebration of Celluloid

Sunday 3 November | Dundee Contemporary Arts
Celebration of Celluloid is a mini film season which peeks behind the curtain to explore the magic of 35mm and the mysteries of the projection booth both on and off-screen.
DCA will be screening rarely seen 35mm prints of Cinema Paradiso and Inglourious Basterds, along with the Scottish premiere of Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey, an insightful documentary on the transition from film to digital. Accompanying these films will be shorts created by local filmmakers, including one which shines the spotlight on DCA’s own projection booth.
At a time where most cinema screenings are digital, it has become increasingly rare to experience films in their original format. Aiming to briefly rebalance matters, DCA invite you to join them in a celebration of 35mm and the projectionists who continue to screen it. Enjoy all three films from this season for the special price of £24 when you book at the same time.
Music & Resistance: THERE, HERE, EVERYWHERE

19 & 26 October, 6 November | Various venues, Dundee
Saoirse has curated a trio of events exploring music and resistance for Take One Action that will take place across three venues in Dundee:
- Music & Resistance: THERE (Saturday 19 October) will show Neptune Frost alongside short Kanga Munoko Yoka, plus a conversation with One World Centre Dundee
- Music & Resistance: HERE (Saturday 26 October) will screen Turner-prize winner Jeremy Deller’s Everybody in the Place in partnership with The National Gallery. Before the screening, Kyalo Searle-Mbullu will lead a sound-making workshop for 16-25 year olds, and afterwards will take part in a conversation on celebrating contemporary club culture
- Music & Resistance: EVERYWHERE (Wednesday 6 November) is a short film programme that invites us to consider how music connects us, and find common ground in the tools we share for resilience. After the screening, musician and artist Paix will lead a somatic sound-healing workshop
