Film Hub Scotland is thrilled to announce an exciting new film tour of Scotland, available May-June 2022.
Reel Roots: Windrush is the first of a two-part series exploring Blackness in Britain, curated by The New Black Film Collective with support from Film Hub Scotland. Select your own choices from 10 features + shorts to build a fresh, inclusive and entertaining programme.
The programme is a spotlight on Black people of Caribbean heritage who have resided in the UK since the Windrush generation, and on the fruits of their culture in cinema. It offers a unique opportunity to give a sense of belonging to communities with this heritage, and to hear their many, complex stories.
License fees vary, ranging £50-100 + materials/VAT. Spanning several decades, the titles list includes fictional features, music and socio-political documentaries, and short films and interviews.
Participants can benefit from hands-on support and cultural guidance from The New Black Film Collective, who will help to facilitate community partnerships and enhanced activity, such as pre-recorded content, Facebook Live events, Q&As, panels, DJ sets, live music, and Caribbean cuisine.
Film Hub Scotland will also provide full marketing support, including bespoke tour posters and digital artwork, a full marketing pack, and social media budget, as well as offering some budget to support enhanced activity.
Reel Roots: Windrush is open to exhibitors of all kinds. Venues must book 3+ titles to benefit from tour support; community cinemas and other non-venue exhibitors must book 2+.
