Step Ahead is a bespoke mentoring programme, delivered by the Centre for the Moving Image in partnership with Film Hub Scotland and funded by Creative Scotland’s Screen Skills Fund to support film exhibition professionals in Scotland.
We are looking for 8 ambitious individuals (employed or freelance) who are working in any specialism within film exhibition (including those who work for festivals, run pop-up initiatives or work in archives) and who would benefit from high-level management mentoring to enhance their knowledge and abilities, allowing them to progress their careers and the overall sector.
Individuals working in any department across film exhibition will be eligible to apply for this programme as the mentors will be chosen to suit those who are given places. This programme is aimed at individuals who are looking to develop their knowledge and abilities allowing them to accelerate their careers and the overall sector.
Each participant will receive a dedicated film industry professional as their mentor, complementary to their career path and skills base, who will provide advice and guidance over four meetings between January- June 2016. Mentoring will be completed by training and networking activities during Edinburgh International Film Festival 15-26 June 2016.
The programme includes allowance for financial support for mentees to attend other UK or international festivals or venues for an inside look at how they operate. These opportunities will be based on needs/skills gaps identified by the Step Ahead team and the mentors. Who can apply?
Applicants must have a proven track record in their area of specialism and must be involved in key decision-making within that area for their organisations or, if freelancers, on projects where they hold a key role.
