The fourth edition of the exhibition innovation conference THIS WAY UP will take place at Hull Truck Theatre on Tuesday 7 & Wednesday 8 November 2017.
Jointly organised by three Film Hubs: Scotland, North West Central and North, this gathering invites film exhibitors from across the UK and Europe to come together to explore new ideas, emerging audience trends and the future of cinema.
THIS WAY UP is essential for anyone wishing to develop practical skills, discover new models and collaborate with like-minded innovators.
Keynotes & themes announced
As the BFI Film Audience Network develops, alongside renewed support measures for UK film exhibition, TWU will tackle the big questions and continue making the case for a diverse film culture. With attendance doubled since its first edition, the growing conference will build on three successful previous events, laying down new challenges and opportunities for the independent exhibition sector, and inviting delegates to explore, debate and discover new ways to move the sector forward.
With themes defined as: The Power of Culture, Technological Change, Ethics and Resilience and Global Communities, This Way Up have also released details of its keynote speakers who will address these themes in the context of cinema and film exhibition:
- Jenny Sealey, MBE who has been CEO/Artistic Director of Graeae Theatre since 1997; the original disabled-led theatre company - Moira Sinclair, CEO of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, who has a particular interest in the resilience and sustainability of the cultural sector - Martin Green, CEO of Hull City of Culture 2017, talking on the 365-day cultural programming and how it can transform a city - And finally, all MC'd and hosted by former director of 58th - 61st Cork Film Festival, James Mullighan.
