HippFest event: Meet the Film Archives

Bo'ness Bakery, Matty Steel Building The UK’s film archives are a treasure trove of the nation’s fascinating screen heritage but how can venues, filmmakers and community groups make the most of this vast array of material?

This free and informal panel event brings together representatives from Film Archives UK to introduce their unique collections and talk through their preservation, digitisation and use within creative exhibition projects, addressing questions on any aspect of archival work.

Film Archives UK (FAUK) brings together archives, archivists, associate organisations and individuals who are committed to the work and development of the UK’s public sector film archives. The member archives are both regional and national and they all work to preserve, digitise and provide public access to this important heritage for now and in the future.

Why not make a day of it at HippFest? Meet The Archives is preceded at 2pm by Pamela Hutchison's 'Cuppa Talk' Lost Girls and Goddesses, which will introduce actresses who worked with G.W.Pabst, including Louise Brooks and Greta Garbo. That evening in Call of the North the work of Scottish filmmaker, writer and explorer Isobel Wylie Hutchison is presented by Gerda Stevenson, accompanied by Rob MacNeacail and Atzi Muramatsu. www.hippfest.co.uk
